Why a cookbook? Food brings people together. Publishing a collection of recipes contributed from our Sea King family creates a community focussed product highlighting the foods that are special to us. Recipes are purpose-driven texts focussed on an intended outcome. They must be written concisely and with clarity. Drafting a recipe is real-world writing and editing for students producing a product for an authentic audience.
The cookbooks will be published before the holidays and available for purchase in the library for $8. Any profits made after covering the printing costs will go back to the library budget to fund future library events and special programming, including the prizes for the cook-off.
Why a cook-off? We all love food! As noted above, food brings people together. The cook-off does just that. Giving students and staff the chance to highlight their talents and passions for cooking and baking, the cook-off is an opportunity to share, taste, and celebrate together! What could be better?
